Micayla and Aidan’s story actually started earlier than either of them realized. When they were younger, Lynn once brought Aidan to Micayla’s family home so he could try on her older brother’s goalie gear. At the time it was just a quick visit, but looking back now it feels like the invisible string that was the very beginning of their story.

They really got to know each other a few years later at 13, spending time together at teen skates and meeting up after hockey games. Glen and Elizabeth… Did you really think your daughter was there because she loved skating and hockey? They started "dating" not long after — and at the Memorial High School Halloween dance, Micayla made the first move with their first kiss, and Aidan’s been glued to her ever since.

They started high school together, graduated together, and continued through university while growing up and building their life as a team. Along the way they’ve supported each other through many stages of life — from starting their careers, to buying their first home, and now planning their wedding.

Aidan proposed during a trip to Prince Edward Island in the middle of a sunflower field. On the drive to their cabin, they unexpectedly passed the field that would end up becoming the perfect place to start the next chapter of their story.
